Amherstburg police catch Cadillac doing 140 km/h in 60 km/h zone

A 2011 Cadillac CTS is shown in this file photo.
A driver from LaSalle is facing thousands of dollars in fines and six demerit points on his license after Amherstburg police clocked his vehicle at a speed 80 km/h faster than the posted limit.
The automobile — a grey Cadillac CTS — was caught on radar on Howard Avenue near County Road 10 on Wednesday.
Amherstburg police said the vehicle was travelling 140 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.
The motorist, a 32-year-old male, was stopped and charged under the stunt driving section of the Highway Traffic Act.
The man’s license has been suspended for seven days and the Cadillac has been impounded until May 4.
If convicted, the driver could be fined in the range of $2,000 to $10,000. He could also be sentenced to six months in jail, receive six demerit points on his license. and have his license suspended for up to two years
This dude was in a hurry. That would suck getting pulled over going that fast and getting hit with those serious fines. Its not unheard of though. The speed limit drops from 80 down to 60km/h there. The police wait in the parking lot at the Fox Glen Golf Course just waiting to nab people who haven't slowed down. Its a known speed trap. This guy is tripping though because he lost his Cadillac CTS, his money and his license. Definitely not worth it to speed. Luckily no one was hurt.
